Business challenge:
The HA had a requirement to hire a technical person but
their staff was not comfortable with the interview process
that would lead to the hire of a bona-fide candidate.
Solution:
The HA utilized a Landon Technology Group consultant to assist
their staff in the hiring process. The Landon Technology Group
Consultant worked with the HA Human Resource staff member
and together they developed a plan to set criteria and identify
the requisite skill sets for field candidates that would be
successful in that role.
Result:
Within thirty days the team of two sought, interviewed,
and hired a successful candidate.
Quote:
"The Landon Group's hands-on assistance in our IT
recruiting efforts has
been invaluable."
Christine O'Connor, Human Resources Manager
Business challenge:
The HA had an existing community room however it was not
equipped with any computers. The HA wanted its residents to
have access to computers and ideally also to the Internet.
As part of the mission to serve its residents, the HA staff
set an objective to procure computers and provide computer
training to the residents.
Solution:
The HA staff discussed their objective with the Landon
Consultant. The Landon Consultant obtained three competitive
quotes for the necessary equipment and software for the HA.
Once the HA executive director approved the funding, the Landon
Consultant acquired and installed the computers on a network
and configured the solution with internet access. The Landon
Consultant recommended an individual to provide the computer
training to the residents to increase their proficiency in
using computers and accessing the internet.
Result:
The community room was unveiled with ten networked computers
and a highly motivated and capable instructor. The community
room and computers are now highly utilized throughout the
days, nights and weekends.
Quote:
"I could not afford a computer, but now I have discovered
the internet. I am always down at the community room. It's
my favorite place. "
Mabel Klosue, HA resident
Business challenge:
The HA computers were networked locally but were not accessible
remotely. A key employee was required to be on extended leave
and was concerned about keeping up with the workload. Unless
additional resources were allocated to his job while he was
gone, the residents would begin to receive unsatisfactory
service.
Solution:
The Landon Technology Group Consultant learned of the
problem and discussed a potential solution to relieve the
situation. The Landon Consultant recommended a Virtual Private
Network (VPN) be installed. Landon priced out the investment
and the project was approved. The Landon Consultant designed
the VPN and acquired the necessary equipment and software
to create the VPN.
Result:
Within a week of commencing the VPN project, the employee
was able to access email, the accounting system, and documents
from his home. This enabled the HA employee to be productive
during his extended leave. The HA did not have to hire a temporary
replacement and the employee was productive in filling his
role.
Quote:
"They came to my house, played with my dog, and set
me up like I was
right at the office. The VPN solution they implemented made
me a very
productive employee even away from the office."
Stephen Kutny, HA employee
