Pawtucket Housing Authority

The Pawtucket Housing Authority (PHA) mission is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing … and empower the people in the community they serve. The PHA services and enriches the lives of nearly 2,000 residents and understands that it is only through technology that they are able to accomplish their mission. The PHA also chose to leverage Landon Technology Group as its technology partner.

   

Safety is a key part of the PHA mission. To ensure the safety of its residents, the PHA security personnel consulted with Landon Technology Group in the selection and implementation of a sophisticated surveillance system. The system gives security personnel a bird's eye view of the multiple properties that they manage. The system utilizes wireless protocol to communicate between buildings, giving PHA security a highly available, real time access solution.

 

Operational excellence has distinguished PHA amongst its peers and is responsible for providing improved service levels to its residents. Previously, PHA struggled with a proprietary phone system which was incapable of seamlessly transferring calls to other facilities. Callers could not return to their original call destination and therefore would be required to redial. These redialed calls then had to be routed again incurring additional phone expenses.
PHA substantially improved its operational excellence and reduced the cost to serve its residents by leveraging a sophisticated technology; voice over IP (Internet Protocol). PHA was able to remove the older proprietary phone system and leverage its existing computer network. This change substantially reduced monthly phone expenses and enhanced the effectiveness of managing calls coming in to the residents. Fewer complaints translated quickly to happier PHA employees and residents.

 
 
Empowering the lives of its resident's is a priority goal for PHA and means providing them with timely and accurate information in a convenient way; convenient for the PHA employees to disseminate and convenient for the PHA residents to access.
 
 

PHA and Landon Technology Group collaborated on a low cost solution to disseminate resident information and communications quickly and efficiently. They redeployed unused PC's and flat screens and converted them into community Kiosks which are easy for the PHA staff to maintain. The team then designed a web page that scrolled information vertically in a continuous manner, making the process of distributing information timely and accessible at any time. A KIOSK was installed on each floor of every building so all the residents have convenient access to information that is important to their lives.
