Your mission is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to your residents. Safety is an essential element of your mission and installing a security surveillance system is a major step towards providing and ensuring for a safe community.
Older technology consisted of Closed Circuit TV that yielded black and white images hardwired via coax cable and offered low definition analog images. The Landon Technology Group will deliver an advanced technology Security Surveillance Solution that is surprisingly affordable. The new technology is IP based and Digital.
Why IP based? Your security surveillance system becomes an extension of your computer network. Much like you add or attach network appliances such as laser printers, scanners, copy machines, and PC’s to your computer network; the cameras are assigned an IP address. The IP based system leverages your existing CAT5e cable for your computer network. This reduces the amount of cable that needs to be run; saving you money. Another major benefit of the IP based system is that the IP protocol allows the cameras to be accessed via the internet. Therefore whether on site or not, you can view the cameras from any computer or mobile device that is connected to the internet.
It's digital! Older technology required forwarding and reversing VCR tapes in order to monitor an event. This is a very inefficient, time consuming and laborious process; but with digital technology the process is event driven. Events are logged and recorded and with a point and click you are monitoring the event. The digital cameras deliver high resolution, are very bright and supply brilliant color images. The camera’s have night vision capability.

IP Wireless technology easily and cost efficiently enables video monitoring over long distances! Most Housing Authorities have a common footprint in relation to their facilities. They usually have a main office with multiple remote sites and feature neighborhoods that require surveillance. Linking these remote sites to the main office and installing a surveillance system to monitor a sprawled neighborhood or a building will require running a mile or more of cable. A much more cost effective option is to leverage wireless airbridges. These airbridges transmit video, voice and data over long distances; eliminating the cost of material for Cat5 cable or fiber optic cable and the many associated labor hours required to run the cable. The airbridges are very stable and provide heavy bandwidth and are quickly installed (see the tab for more on wireless networks).
Storage! Running frame rates at 30 per second, 24 hours a day for just 15 cameras and retaining those images for a period of twenty days will require up to 1 TB of storage. The storage device can be expanded as needs increase and will be attached to the IP computer network. Storage options for digital video are practically limitless.
The Landon Technology Group will meet with you to design a solution that meets your current budget and is expandable. We can share with you best practices from other Housing Authorities.
